Friday 21st August - Book Week Celebration - Theme - "Curious Creatures"
Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back to Term 3! With the disruption caused by COVID-19 last term, it was terrific to return to the term as normal. As we begin, we keep in mind those school communities in NSW and Victoria who are starting this term at home and online again. We are indeed very fortunate to be back to face to face learning.
Our Year 5 students headed to camp yesterday and from all accounts are having a great, if somewhat chilly, time! I am sure they will return with some amazing tales from Gumburu.
This term promises to a busy one as we play catchup from the disruption earlier in the year. I am sure it will be another great term for our students. As always we are looking forward to working with you for the benefit of our students.
Have a great week
Tim
Welcome back to Term 3! I hope that you all had a restful holiday break. It has been wonderful to see all the smiling faces of the kids this week and I have enjoyed hearing all about their adventures during the school holidays. As I have wandered around the school this week and visited all the classrooms it has been fantastic to see how quickly everyone has settled back into routines and expectations of their classrooms. I hope that everyone has a wonderful Term 3!
The Sign of the Cross One of the first prayers and ritual actions your child will learn in the Catholic faith is the Sign of the Cross. Catholics are invited and encouraged to make the Sign of the Cross at the beginning and end of prayers and liturgical celebrations and it can be a sign of moving to a special time to talk to or listen to God. God is named three times in this prayer. It is a mini creed that recognises and celebrates the Trinity. When we make the sign of the cross, we acknowledge our belief in the Word of God, our commitment to spread God’s Word in our daily lives and our awareness of God’s presence in our hearts. In other words, we pray that we should understand it with our minds, speak it with our lips and believe it in our hearts. Next time you pray as a family, take a moment to focus on making the Sign of the Cross slowly and reverently, reflecting on its importance in your life. How we show LOVE
Our Year 1's have been talking about how we show love. Thalia, Henry and Chloe came to visit me with their work and told me that we show love like God by living our school motto of Love God Love Each Other. They had other ways of showing love on the leaves of their tree. Some of these ideas were that we show love when we are kind, patient, caring, helpful, show joy and share with others. Check out their amazing work!
