Friday 19th June - St Joey's Athletics Carnival @ School
Tuesday 23rd June - P & F AGM followed by a general meeting in the staffroom @ 6.30pm
Dear Parents and Carers
As we quickly come to the end of a very different few weeks once again, amidst the difficulties it is important to look for some positives and to be grateful. We are living in turbulent times and in recent weeks have been confronted and challenged on many levels. So amongst all of these challenges what am I grateful for?
I am grateful for our students, for their perseverance, for their flexibility in adapting to new situations, for their kindness and their willingness to support one another. How amazing has it been to see our Year 6 students escorting our younger students into school every morning? I am incredibly proud of their efforts.
I am grateful to our staff for the myriad of ways they have continued to provide our students with opportunities despite restrictions and cancellations. Who would have thought we could still have had an athletics carnival experience amid COVID? And yet that is exactly what we have seen. The fact that despite everything that has been thrown at them in the last 13 weeks, our staff have looked for and delivered upon, new ways and opportunities to work with students and support their learning.
I am grateful for your ongoing support of the school. Our Parents and Friends association are once again looking for opportuities to support our families. While we are unable to hold Beachathon this term, the P&F have supported the postponement and we will hold it in a slightly different form next term, so stay tuned. Again obstacles have been placed before us but their ability to be flexible and supportive means that our students will not miss out.
There are many other reasons to be grateful and I would urge everyone to look for something, even the smallest of things for us to give thanks for in 2020.
With only one week remaining I know everyone is looking forward to a break. Before that happens though we are excited about our short track sprints this Friday. These will be live streamed so you can watch online and still adhere to the COVID restrictions. I'm sure they will be a lot of fun!
Have a great week.

During Learning at Home, Joshua and Allison Marshall planted snow peas. This week they harvested the first peas from the vines and they shared the photo of their efforts with me. Awesome work Josh and Alli! |
Year 3 RE
Our Year 3's have been learning about our Parish and Diocese this term in RE. One of their tasks was to draw a picture of what our Church looked like in the past and what it looks like now. Check out some of their drawings.
Have a great week.
Take care and God Bless

Special Guest. Year 1 students are learning about Change. What was life like 70 years ago. Ms Pat our wonderful volunteer for over 10 years came to fill them in. The kids were amazed that when she was little she had no TV or any electronics. No fridge and no car were just a few of the differences.
World Oceans Day: The year 1 classes read a story about a jelly fish and talked about how they can make a difference to our oceans.
Year 5 Literacy Pro: It is wonderful to see the year 5 students reading a variety of chapter books to achieve their certificate levels. When they get up to silver and gold the prizes are awesome. Free books and end of year library party. Ask your children about it. Remember if they are bored get them reading and doing their quizzes. Hopefully the incentives to read will get them motivated enough to actually discover the joy of reading.
Happy reading
