SCHOOL FEES DUE TODAY
Dear Parents and Carers
Firstly my apologies for the delay in the newsletter being published. We have had some issues with the platform which thankfully have now been resolved. As we find ourselves approaching the middle of Term 4 , we find a large number of important events to fit into a busy few weeks. Please take time to stay in touch with what is happening in the school over the coming weeks.
Today we celebrate World Teachers Day. As we navigate through another busy end to our school year, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the incredible role teachers play in shaping the lives of our students and their contribution to our Joeys community. Their passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment deserve recognition and appreciation.
Today teachers are more than just educators; they are mentors, guides, sources of inspiration, counsellors, problem solvers and so much more. Each day, they step into the classroom ready to ignite curiosity and foster a love for learning. Their enthusiasm is contagious, encouraging students to explore new ideas and take risks in their education. Whether it’s through engaging lessons, creative projects, or simply offering a listening ear, teachers help students discover their potential and pursue their passions.
Dedication is at the heart of what our teachers offer. They invest countless hours beyond the school day—preparing lessons, individualizing programs and attending professional development. They are wonderful examples of lifelong learners, constantly developing and honing their skills and knowledge to respond to the ever-changing needs of the school environment, all to ensure that their students receive the best education possible. Their commitment extends beyond academics; they provide support in times of need, provide opportunities for student advocacy, they model positive relationships and interactions, demonstrating that they genuinely care about each student’s well-being and success.
Moreover, our teachers play a vital role in our school community. They create an inclusive and nurturing environment where students feel valued and heard. By fostering strong relationships with students and collaborating with families, our teachers help build a supportive network that encourages growth and achievement.
Much of the work they do is behind the scenes and it is in this space that I witness first hand the value and importance of our teachers. Our teachers continue to go above and beyond to ensure our community continues to thrive and that the students remain the centre of all we strive to achieve. They work alongside one another, supporting each other as colleagues and peers and it is this, amongst a myriad of other things, that sets our staff apart.
Today please take a moment to celebrate and thank our teachers. Their hard work and dedication lay the foundation for our future leaders, thinkers, and innovators. Thank you to all our teachers for your passion, commitment, and for making a difference in our lives every day. You are truly the heart of our school community! On behalf of our school community - thank you.
Have a great week.
Tim
World Teacher's Day
Today, we celebrated World Teachers' Day. We took a moment to recognise and appreciate the hard work and care that our teachers put into their jobs. Teaching is more than just work; it's a calling that shapes and nurtures young minds and hearts in the spirit of Christ.
All of our students wrote a handwritten note to show their gratitude for our teachers. These notes can be read along the breezeway as you enter Joey's. This is a way to recognise and appreciate the dedication of our teachers, who, like Jesus, guide, teach, and care for others. Let's come together to celebrate and give thanks for the important role our teachers play in our children's lives.
Day for Daniel
On the same day, we also honoured the memory of Daniel Morcombe with Day for Daniel, Australia's largest safety education and awareness day. Families are encouraged to continue conversations with their children about personal safety. The Day for Daniel website offers activities for families to participate in at home; Daniel Mocrcombe Foundation.
Socktober - Crazy Sock Day
A fundraiser for Socktober 2024: Mongolia, Catholic Mission’s annual flagship school engagement program to bring communities together and make a real impact on global issues. This year, Catholic Mission is raising awareness and funds for the Caring Center in Mongolia which provides care and support for homeless children. Joey’s students and staff wore silly socks (e.g. unmatched, novelty, colourful) and participated in activities on the day to foster a sense of empathy and social responsibility.
Catholic Mission is the Pope’s international Mission agency in Australia. To find out more about Socktober 2024: Mongolia, visit the Socktober website.

Whole School Meditation
Next Friday, 1st November, our school will come together for meditation as we pray across the diocese for All Saints Day. All Saints' Day is a Christian festival in honour of all the saints in heaven. It celebrates and gives thanks to those who have given grace and whose powerful ends have helped to shape human life. It's time for people to follow the example of the saints and recognise that the sanctity of life can stem from ordinary circumstances, not only extraordinary crises of human life.
Families are welcome to join us for meditation at 8:45am in the hall.
Hope all have an amazing few weeks,
Trina
Prep Premiere - Roll Out the Red Carpet
Monday 8:45am is the place to be as our superstars hit the red carpet.
Our 2024 Prep students have been busy working on a special project -creating videos to help learners say their sounds like pros! On Monday, we'll be rolling out these videos showcasing our littlest stars. These videos will be used at Joey's and beyond to assist children, parents, teachers to pronounce sounds correctly.
These videos are packed with pronunciation fun and feature gestures that Joey's kids use daily to 'Say the sound read the words' and 'Say the sound write the words'.
All families are welcome to attend, but be aware that Yr 5 bodyguards will be on duty.
Professional Development for Teachers
On Wednesday evening, our dedicated teachers explored changes to the mathematics curriculum, which will be implemented at Joey's in 2025. These updates are being thoroughly planned to ensure a smooth transition to support learners with teacher practice aligned to evidence.
Late to school
We understand that sometimes families might arrive late to school; however, frequent late arrivals have an ongoing impact on student learning. Mornings are peak learning times for our students, and with students frequently late to school, they miss valuable learning opportunities and can unintentionally disrupt the class.
Our warning bell is at 8:25 a.m., and all students are expected to be in class at 8:30 a.m. ready to begin the day.
Please remember that all students arriving late to school must attend the office with their parents/carers to collect a late slip to provide to their class teacher. This is necessary to ensure the safety of all students.
Semester Two Reports
Semester Two Reports will be published via Compass on Friday 6th December at 12pm. You will need your Compass username and password to access these reports. Please see the office if you do not have this information.
If your child is in Year 6 or if you are leaving our school please download your child's report from Compass before 30th December. After the 30th of December, access via Compass will not be available.
Congratulations to our Quest for Knowledge team for 2024, “200 IQ Quartet” on placing 3rd. They showed great team spirit and creativity as they worked together through 200 trivia questions.
Well done to Evie (Captain), Charlie, Cameron and Connor.
