Dear Parents and Families,
It is hard to believe we are at the end of Term One. Time certainly flies when you are having fun! Our students and families have had opportunities to gather for our swimming carnival, P and F discos, 150th photo and cake and our beginning of year Mass with our Year 6 leaders being recognised.
Term Two is bound to be just as busy with our 150th Celebrations, the school Cross Country and Athletics Carnival, ANZAC Day, Life Education visits and of course, Beachathon.
Our students will certainly need their rest over the next two weeks.
I am very grateful for the tremendous support of our Joey's staff over the past few weeks in Tim's absence and am thankful to the parents who have checked in and offered to help. I am truly blessed to be a part of the Joey's community.
Hope all our students and families enjoy a safe and happy Easter,
Trina
NAPLAN
Students in Year 3 and Year 5 completed NAPLAN testing last week. These national tests were moved to Term 1 this year. Thank you to our wonderful teaching team for ensuring students were supported with this significant change. Congratulations to all Year 3 and Year 5 students for working hard during testing.
We have been advised that results for parents will be available in Term 3.
AMAZING RACE
To celebrate the completion of NAPLAN, Year 3 and Year 5 students completed a race unlike any other....it was AMAZING!
Students worked in groups on an orienteering style hunt. Students were given a map of the school with checkpoints marked. They interpreted the map to solve mathematical problems and answered riddles and puzzles. Some checkpoints involved physical challenges of an obstacle course, posing for photos to represent a problem-solving strategy and sorting numbers.
Congratulations to the winning teams:
Year 3 team - MFK's
Year 5 team - Aussie Undies

Thank you to all those who donated to the 2023 Project Compassion Appeal. Our small school raised over $1500. An extraordinary effort!
These funds will be donated to Caritas Australia to help support communities within Australia and the world to create change through clean water supplies, education and health care.
Congratulations to the Goodwin family with the closest guess for our 'Guess the Easter Eggs' competition. There were 357 Easter eggs in the jar!

I’m proud to say that during Term 1 our students borrowed 4900 books.
Our top 3 classes for regular borrowing were 5A followed by 1B and 3B. Children may borrow 3 books weekly and may change them again Friday before school so they can have more for the weekend.
Look at our new kids on the block enjoying their visit to the library. We love to see the students genuinely enjoying books!
