Dear Parents and Carers
If you haven't been on our school homepage for a while you may have missed the addition of School TV to our resources for parents and carers.
SchoolTV has partnered with Townsville Catholic Education to deliver ongoing support to parent communities, teachers and school and pastoral support staff. The SchoolTV platform is integral as part of a whole school approach to student wellbeing. It is now available to our parents and families. Each topic or edition addresses key issues using brief interviews with expert specialists, fact sheets, parent quizzes, recommended apps, books and much more.
SchoolTV streamlines and brings together information from many reputable sources such as REACHOUT and beyondblue, Australian Psychological Society, Nutrition Australia, headspace and esafety Commission. This provides a very reliable and accessible resource, saving parents time and confusion searching online across multiple sites.
To access this fantastic resource, log on to the school page (https://www.sjnwtsv.catholic.edu.au), click on the student tab and scroll down the list to School TV. There is some great content for families including topics such as cybersafety, healthy body, positive parenting and other special reports.
I would encourage all families to take some time to have a look through this very valuable resource.
Have a great week
Tim
Mission Month - Socktober
This week, our students participated in a range of activities to raise funds for Catholic Mission Australia and their annual appeal, Sockobter. The focus for this year's appeal is on the works of the Good Shepherd sisters in Thailand supporting children from vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds.
Over the week, students made sock balls and used them during Friday lunchtime. Congratulations to Daniel and Zach for the correct guess of 241 for the lolly jar. Many crazy, colourful socks were worn to school on Friday.
Thank you to our Year 6 students who lead the activities each break time.
Hope all have a great week,
Trina
Day for Daniel
On Friday, 29th October wear red to school raising awareness about child safety.
Please ensure clothing is sunsafe and closed in shoes are worn.
Rookies Basketball Program
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we will not be conducting the Rookies Basketball program (Prep-Year 6) in Term 4. This popular program will return next year. Apologies for any inconvenience caused to those who were interested.
Swimming Lessons P - Year 3
Our Prep-Year 3 Swimming lessons were off to a great start last Friday. Lessons will be undertaken every Friday, 8/10 (Week 1) to 19/11 (Week 7). Students will have a supervised walk to the pool each week. It would be greatly appreciated if some parents were able to assist with this walk. Please contact your child's classroom teacher if you are able to help out. The cost of the lessons will be included in Term 4 school fees. We trust that our swimming lessons will be an enjoyable and worthwhile experience for everyone involved. We thank Luc Senent from Tobruk Pool and his dedicated coaches for ensuring our students are afforded this wonderful opportunity. The timetable for lessons can be found here.
