St Joseph's Day
Today, we celebrated the patron saint of our community- St Jospeph. Joseph- the husband of Mary and the father of Jesus. God called Joseph, a simple carpenter to care for and protect Jesus. With great faith and trust, he accepted God's call. Joseph was a good man who love and trusted God and listened to God's message. He showed great courage and strength to follow God's way. We seek to be more like Joseph and trust God to protect us.
We began our day with a whole school Mass. We thank Fr Siby for leading our Mass and our students for participating fully in the Mass. Each class continued their celebrations with buddy activities across the school. All students were involved in fun activities to mark the day.
Cowboys Day
We marked the first home game of the Cowboys 2021 season with a day to wear our favourite Cowboy gear. Even our icy cups were the colours of the Cowboys! All monies raised will go towards Project Compassion.
Project Compassion Buskers
Thanks to Mr and Mrs Bennett and our Year 6 students for the wonderful and exciting start to our Thursday this week. This group sought to BE MORE by singing for our school and providing entertainment.
Parish Sacramental Journey
This Sunday, our students who have been preparing for the Sacraments of Initiation will make their sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist. Bishop Tim will be joining the St Joseph's Parish to celebrate this exciting day. Please keep these students and their families in your prayers as they become participating members of the parish.
Hope all have a wonderful week,
Trina
Interschool Swimming Carnival 2021
Congratulations on another outstanding performance by our St. Joseph’s Putney Interschool Swimming Team who competed in the A Schools Carnival at Long Tan Pool on Wednesday. We managed to continue our outstanding run from last year, again winning the Second Aggregate Trophy. The Cathedral School were the winners with 300 points, St. Joeys - The Strand narrowly behind with 284 points and Townsville Grammar in third place with 238 points. Our staff representatives Miss Lisa, Mr. Meekin and Miss Kathy were delighted with the team spirit and behaviour of our squad. Our Year 6 leaders did an outstanding job in leading the war cries. A sincere thanks to parents who managed to get their children to the pool for the early starts and our dedicated staff for their support with training. Children who placed in Division 1 events will receive their Townsville Primary School certificates next week. Bring on 2022!

Hot days
‘The sun did shine. It was too hot to play. So, we sat in the library all that hot, hot day. I sat there with many. We sat there we eighty-two and we said wow there is so much to do.’
I do love Dr Seuss even though some of his books are considered politically incorrect. The rhyming and weird and wonderful characters bring a smile to my face. We have to remember they were published over 50 years ago and the age of being inclusive and politically correct had not begun. Now they still can be enjoyed with an added opportunity to discuss how we view things differently in the 21st century.
Junior Librarians Badge ceremony
Congratulation to these wonderful students who have been creating a fun lunch time atmosphere. So proud of Sofia Copppla, Grace Montgomerie, Mila Esposito, Harlow Kelly, Elizabeth Griffiths, Chloe Guilfoyle and Brooke Gordon.
Keen Year 1D readers sharing their books
Friday Morning Hub Bub
It is wonderful to see so many parents and children dropping into the library before school. There are some great chess players looking to have a game or they can teach you how to play.

Holiday Borrowing
I will send an email home letting you know what your children have borrowed. They are welcome to borrow over the holidays
Happy Reading
