Dear Parents and Carers
Hard to believe that we only have four weeks of the year remaining. With so much happening in the last few week I would urge all families to stay in touch with what is happening and upcoming special events.
This week we held our last Mercy Awards assembly for the year while also celebrating some long serving members of staff. This week we recognised staff who have worked for Catholic Education for 10, 15 and 25 years. In recognising their service to education we also recognise the extraordinary contribution they have made to our school, students and the wider Joey's community. We are incredibly grateful for what they do each and every day to provide our students with quality educational opportunities, with care and compassion and a genuine love of what they do.
Today we also celebrated a new special day - national deputy principal's day! ( a day wholly and solely of our creation!) We took the chance to celebrate the amazing work that our deputy principals undertake. Mrs Neilson and Mrs Wallace work tirelessly to support our students, staff and school community. Much of what they do takes place behind the scenes, however our school would not be where it is without the important work they undertake. I am incredibly thankful for their support and commitment to our school community and to making sure our students have only the very best. I am sure you will join with me in thanking Trina and Julie for all they do and have achieved.
Have a great week.
Tim
Whole School Meditation
Last Friday, our school came together for a Christian meditation to celebrate All Saints Day. The morning gave students and staff the chance to experience peace and calm through spiritual reflection.
Christian Meditation focuses on quieting the mind and centring ourselves in God's presence. Each of our classes gathered with their buddy class, centred around a sacred space. This experience deepened our faith-based learning and reminded us of the power of mindfulness in nurturing a calm, centred spirit.

Remembrance Day
On Monday, we will acknowledge Remembrance Day with an in-class liturgy and a minute's silence at 11am.
Symbolic of Remembrance Day is the poppy flower which grows freely through much of the countryside of Northern France and Belgium. Joey's students are encouraged to wear a poppy on Monday to show their respect.
Due to our in-class liturgy, our morning tea time will be different on Monday.
Our morning tea break will be 10:20 - 10:50am.
St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal
We have begun collecting donations for our annual Vinnies Christmas Appeal. Thank you to all those who have donated so far.
The Vinnies Christmas appeal is all about bringing joy and festivity to families and individuals who may need some extra support at this expensive time of year.
We invite you to share in the spirit of Christmas by donating food items that will be made into hampers to help provide families with a Christmas filled with joy and happiness.
END OF YEAR MASS
Thursday, 5th December
8:45am - In the hall
All welcome!
Hope all have a wonderful few weeks,
Trina
Prep Superstars!
Have you watched our videos starring our Prep superstars explaining how they learn to read and write? These videos have been created to help all beginner readers pronounce sounds correctly and use actions to assist with speech sounds. We have made these videos to assist families with sound pronunciation. Living in North Queensland, we tend to add a 'schwa' sound, and this impacts spelling.
Last week, we launched these videos, but don't fear...we had our Year 5 Security Team ensure safety on the red carpet.

Semester Two Reports (Reminder)
Semester Two Reports will be published via Compass on Friday 6th December at 12pm. You will need your Compass username and password to access these reports. Please see the office if you do not have this information.
If your child is in Year 6 or if you are leaving our school please download your child's report from Compass before 30th December. After the 30th of December, access via Compass will not be available.
